Name: Bobo Del Rey
Door: submissive

Canon: Wynonna Earp
Canon Point: End of season 1, just before his death

Age: around 100 years old
Appearance: here

History: here

Personality:
Positive Trait:

Loyal: Loyalty is why everything went to literal Hell in Bobo’s life in the first place. It was his loyalty to Wyatt Earp that led to his death at the hands of Peacemaker, willing to give up his own life as Robert Svane to do the right thing in stopping a demon. That loyalty is repaid with abandonment and a one way trip to Hell that he’s only released from after Wyatt’s death.

Despite the way his nature twisted after this betrayal and the time he spent in Hell, Bobo still shows signs of this loyalty showing through his darker persona. Almost always where it relates to the Earps, either by blood or name. While he uses Waverly to overcome the magical wards on the Earp homestead, he doesn’t betray her in that either, acting as her imaginary friend and confidant in her youth. Even when he has the chance to turn on her time and again, that memory of the friendship she gave him draws out some creepy loyalty that he honors with her in many ways.

Then there is his loyalty to Willa. The Stockholm bond that holds her goes both ways, ensnaring the demon into loving the descendant of the man he gave his life for and who, because of her, he comes into the game after once more giving his life for an Earp. He spends years loyal to her after her memories are taken, showing patience and dedication to her until the time comes when she remembers him again. That loyalty lays down to the last moment of his life on Earth as a revenant. Even when she betrays him, just as Wyatt had a hundred years before. When emotions are involved there is an absolute and resolute loyalty that he gives that is betrayed time and again by the actions of those around him.

Negative Trait:

Sadomasochism: Years in Hell has a way of changing a man and, for Bobo, it brought out a lot of the darkness in him. Fueled by betrayal and pain, the revenant has a taste for darkness that shows in so many things he does. To make examples of others, he has them dragged beyond the city limits to constantly be tortured by the energy outside of the cursed area they live in. He doesn’t even do it himself, forcing another to do the physical act to remind them of how easily he controls their life and livelihood, as well as their pain.

Most often his sadistic side comes out when loyalty to him is denied such as when someone betrays him to others, or such as when someone refuses to do what he orders them to do. It can result in horrific acts up to and including mutilation to alleviate his own anger and frustration such as using his metal manipulation to drive a drill through another revenant’s face. He does these acts with a calm facade and an impassive face, though sometimes there is a light in his eyes, a way he leans into the acts, that shows an appreciation for the act of pain and horror in and of itself.

While it’s not a side he shows often, Bobo’s love language is masochism. It’s shown time and again through his actions to those to whom he has given loyalty, and those that remind him of the man he once was and his desire for that life. It starts with accepting his fate, and the pain of a slow and miserable death of being shot in a church to stop a demon, urging Wyatt to shoot him to show his faith in the other man and reverence to him and his cause. He spends years suffering without Willa’s memories, enduring his pain of seeing her and not seeing the recognition and love in her eyes, as well as following her lead when the time comes for them to leave the Triangle.

He is easily cowed by Waverly when she shows her anger towards him, showing a submissive streak that encourages her for more. It’s a side of him that shows through often with strong woman especially, such as when the Stone Witch not only drives him to the floor but encourages him to fellate her metal heels to show his reverence. So much of what Bobo does is either in being hurt and used or in doing the same to others.

Negative Trait:

Manipulative:

As a mortal Bobo was a god fearing man who believed in doing the right thing, even if not always for the right reasons. A stint in hell and then over a hundred years as a demon living on Earth changed all of that. Or, perhaps, brought it out in new ways to go along with what he had to do to continue to hold power and control.

Manipulation is Bobo Del Rey’s first language. Why give a straight answer or make things easy when you can twist others to do your bidding… not to mention provide entertainment. He spent months and possibly years pretending to be a little girl’s imaginary friend to get her to bury a countercharm on their property. He promises one thing, and then ensures the actions of another will prevent it or give half truths such as promising the Stone Witch he’ll find her children’s bones, which isn’t the same as saying he would find their entire skeletons. It’s almost a game for him, delighting in pushing people into corners and then practically feeding off their desperation as they fight their way out. Even knowing they’ll fail as he does time and again with his revenant minions, giving them the choice between doing what he wants or dying.

There’s little to win in his dealings and there’s always an ulterior motive to his actions. Finding himself a submissive in Duplicity he’s going to be the poster child for the existence of a deceit gene, likely using his position to try and improve his lot in life. No matter at what cost.

Negative Trait:

Arrogant: Seventy seven men died at the hands of Peacekeeper, going to Hell only to return to Earth every time an Earp heir dies. Only one of them has spent the entire time since their first return on Earth. Bobo sees that puts him in a different place than the others, someone above the other demons because he’s avoided the bullet longer than anyone, going on a hundred years, and he certainly sees that as making him better than others.

He carries that arrogance with him in everything he does. A combination of knowing the truth of his death as well as having ruled so long with an iron fist - and a manipulative nature that allowed him to befriend and use the last Earp heir before Wynonna - he knows his place and what he’s due living in that position. Such as living is.

Finding himself in a world where he is free from the Triangle and yet not free at all, he will work to use what he has to make his own place, even if it’s means topping from the bottom and using others to prove he’s right and to show just what kind of man he is.
